The Philadelphia Union signed forward Cory Burke to a contract extension through 2022 with an option for 2023, the club announced Wednesday.

Burke, who turns 29 this month, has scored 14 goals in 41 MLS games (20 starts) since joining the Union in 2018.

"We're excited to have come to an agreement on a new contract with Cory. He is a very talented striker who instantly strengthens our attack and solidifies our depth up top," Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said. "Cory has consistently shown his value on the pitch with his dedication, hard work and ability to finish. He has become a valuable striker who runs hard in the box and has the ability to make a play defensively to start the attack."

Burke tallied 10 goals and one assist in 29 games with Philadelphia in 2018. He spent parts of the last two seasons on loan at Portmore United in his native Jamaica and at Austria's SKN St. Polten.

He helped the Union capture their first Supporters' Shield in 2020 by scoring two goals in five games after rejoining the club in mid-October.
