Kurds ask for US bases to be built near Iran border

Philadelphia News.Net
Tuesday 22nd July, 2008

As part of a long-term security agreement with Iraq, US forces could be stationed in Kurdistan.

The Iraqi government and the head of northern Iraq's regional Kurdish administration, Massoud Barzani, have suggested to military officials that US forces be permanently based in Kurdistan.

Mr Barzani has said a permanent US military presence in the Kurdistan region would defend Iraq from internal and external risks.

On hearing the request, US Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama said it would be appropriate to redeploy US troops there in the future.

Mr Obama is known to believe troops stationed in the Kurdistan area are not in any great danger.

There are currently no US airbases in Kurdistan, although there are two Air Force facilities in neighbouring provinces.

The US military has denied any intention of building a US air base, but Kurdish sources have said if the US military decides to establish a permanent presence it will be closer to the Iraqi-Iranian border.

Kurds ask for US bases to be built near Iran border

A good darn idea. I believed we should have one built in the area army /airforce base. If the president of Irag wants out of Irag tthan we should build a permanent base at Kurdistan, where we are most welcome by the Kurd. I agreed with Barzani. The comment I’ve to divide the country into three country is best for that region and I am very sure it will be more peaceful in the area. A self goverment will eliminate all most killing in Irag. I think it is a good deal for all hand.Mr Obama did not even visit the region and hear thier side of the story. Kurdistan is very crucial in the rgion and the security of the Kurds.

We will follow you.

No matter where US troops go,the terrorists will follow like flies to vermins. Terrorists are anonymous, they are a shifting force, they can be anywhere until the US stopped occupying other peoples' countries.

Massoud Barzani,in his greed for money,is exposing his country to the risk of terror attacks. I think Kurdistan will be the new in fashion place for terrorists,if Massoud got his wish fulfilled. Pity the citizens there though.

It is a great idea

That’s a great idea to have a US bases in Kurdistan for safety of our troops and safety of friendly Kurds. We can not trust Turks anymore as we had a bad experience with Turkish goverment dring gulf war. Kurds are the most trustable allies. We have to have our bases in Kurdistan period

Kurd is Clever but nobody supports

I believe Kurd’s leaders are cleaver more than some of Middeast leaders but unfortunately we have very little friends to support us those who came over sease from US or some says Israil supports Kurd that is not true for the second however I wish Israil supports Kurd, we are in sore need for an American base in Kurdistan and we wormly welcome our friends from US

of course as a foreigner its none of my business but in the interest of cheap oil and security in the world ,I think the best solution would be the division of the united states into 3 .not Iraq
1.the original 13 states
2 .the areas purchased from napoleon.
3. the areas taken from mexico by imperialist war.

alaska and hawaii to go with whoever of the 3 they like.
do not you think thats reasonable too?

Friends with their hands out.
Bought and paid for friends are only as friendly as the size of the checks used to buy them off.
This type of foreign policy is why the US has so much animosity.

Hawaii has some people who wish to leave the union the Lakota have the wish as well but the other areas are not expressing this thought process.
Iraq on the other hand has three distinct groups of people who all want self determination and are willing to kill each other over it.
While we discuss this the entire Middle East should be rezoned anywhere you see a straight line the border was imposed and not grown naturally.

Redo the entire middle east map.

Hello, freedback to Kurdistan ...

Hello, Kurdistan: If you have read my yesterday’s article “Pink Coded Obama’s stubbornness disgrace American war-sacrifices in Iraq visit” to campaign for the 2008 US Presidential Hopeful JOHN McCAIN, our McCAIN’s analysis-team has had pointed out that the US military under 2009 JOHN McCAIN administration “may consider” to stay longer for the stability of Independent Kurdish Interim Government and good for the U.S. Security to the Northern Iraq’s territory if Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki government complies with US Sen. Barack Obama has advocated pulling US combat troops out of Iraq within 16 months or before 2010. Sen. JOHN McCAIN understands fully that Bush administration’s black woman Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has NEVER like Kurds that much, Rice uses to remark Kurds are enemy of Americans, but in fact, the fact check is that Kurds have NEVER kill one single American soldier since the Iraq War begun. However, Sen. JOHN McCAIN’s campaign coalition have no idea why a black Senator Barack Obama’s flip-flop (again), Obama’s one mouth is calling for US combat troops withdrawal within 16 months, and Obama’s another mouth saying US troops to stay in Kurdistan is ... ; anyway Obama has NEVER regard Kurds or care about Kurds before. THANK YOU KURDISTAN FOR TRUSTING 2009 SEN. JOHN MCCAIN PRESIDENCY. Oh, one more issue McCAIN’s team likes to let Kurds to know that to pull out US combat troops to “swap” to fight for “Obama’s Afghanistan War” on ground war or mountain warfare is a TERRIBLE WRONG direction to 2009 American foreign policy; 2009 McCAIN administration in White House has NO attention to step up another Afghanistan War to make Taliban as our “hatred” enemy with American people. Taliban is just one kind of local Afghan bandits. May be is “Obama’s Afghanistan War” but NOT the 2009 McCAIN’s war, Sen. JOHN McCAIN does NOT like war that much.

**** **** **** **** **** **** ****

Kurds or Kurdistan is quite fully qualified to meet the U.N.'s “Self-determination” to declare the Kurdish Independence. This is the right of U.N.'s “Seld-determination” which the Kurds should know their right and to make decision for their tomorrow’s Kurdish future.

It might be a trap!

When everything seems to go alright in Iraq and that there is a control on the enemy. Did’nt anybody think that it might be a trap? Didn’t anybody think they might be pointing to Afghanistan with their attacks, in order to get the troops to withdraw and when these iraq military or police are alone they would enter again to conquer what took years to gain control by US and Iraqui forces?
Let us not make a decision that we all will regret!
the Iraqi Government should carefuly consider this fact, in order to prevent possible future casualties in the community and also within their loyal forces.
Didn’t it take a long while to get where we all are now? So, do you wanna lose it all in a fraction of time!
Beware, these people are not alone and there are many others providing assistance to them and possibilities might excist that there are others within the border who are still helping them!

They should not leave at the timeframe requested!

A sudden withdrawel of the US military troops could be devastating and a great los on all what we have gained in the past years. The US and the Iraqi government should consider leaving troops in Iraq as a backup for Iraqi security forces. They should stay to enforce security and provide further trainings to Iraqi forces.
If they still leave than all the parties involved on this decision are to be hold responsible for any cruel actions committed by Al Quaida militants.
